Barbara Jean Ludwig, Born on August 13, 1949 to Russell and Florence Krueger, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends on August 30, 2025. Survived by siblings, Gerald (Helen), Jean, David (Pamela), Gregory, Nancy (Todd) and Matthew.
Barb loved to spend time with her family and friends, cook, read, shop, spoil her grandchildren whenever the opportunity presented itself, visit the occasional casino with friends and family, watch movies, and attend dance recitals for her daughter Julia and later her grandchildren. She loved to chat with her family and friends on the phone, and she adored many UK TV series. There was a time when she was attending concerts and Broadway Musicals quite often with family and friends. Her favorite musical was of course The Phantom of the Opera which her granddaughters have now seen on both Broadway and in London. Her favorite season was autumn, and her favorite holiday was Christmas. Barb and many of her family members would often go downtown for Black Friday and do some fun-filled Christmas shopping before grabbing lunch. Barb and her older sister Kathy would host the epic food-filled Krueger family holiday events at their shared home when their parents were no longer able to host. There was never a lack of tasty food at any sort of dinner or event she would be a part of. This was instilled in her from her parents and the example they set over the years with their Sunday family luncheons and holiday gatherings. Barb worked for Hennepin County as a Human Services Representative for most of her career. She even wrote a couple novels in her spare time – just for fun. She was always the exceptionally proud grandma stereotype when it came to anything her grandchildren did or accomplished over the years – and proudly displayed their school pictures and art projects all over her home.
Barb’s children would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to her close friends Dawn and Marilyn for their help and guidance during her final months with us as she came to terms with her cancer diagnosis and the path she choose to take by living out her final days on her own terms at her own home. Dawn, you will never know how much you helped us navigate the ever-changing day to day issues all while lifting everyone’s hearts during such a trying time by making our mother feel comfortable and safe with your calming and consistent presence during her final days.
It should be noted that Barb got her passport in late 2019 and was gearing up to finally do some world traveling when the entire planet shut down in early 2020 for the pandemic. Sadly, after the world opened back up a few years later, health issues kept her from being able to travel to the UK like she wanted. Her son Andy and his wife Angela will be taking a small portion of her ashes to spread them in a picturesque landscape outside of London in the UK.
