Calvin “Cal” Headley, 95, passed away on December 22, 2022, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. He was born in Stewart, MN on October 25, 1927, to F. Ray and Mattie (Hanson) Headley. Cal graduated from Stewart High School in 1946. After graduating, he joined the Navy and was stationed in the Pacific Islands. Upon discharged, Cal joined the Milwaukee Railroad as a Telegrapher. He then joined the Great Northern Railroad as a Station Agent in Campbell, MN. Cal married Patricia Murphy on July 24, 1955, in Campbell, where he continued working for the Great Northern Railroad. Cal and Pat moved to Litchfield, MN where he purchased a bulk oil business that he operated for three years in addition to driving school bus. In 1957, Cal and Pat welcomed their son Michael. They then moved to Maple Plain, MN where they welcomed daughter Sara in 1963. Next, they moved to Medina, MN where Cal worked for Dayton’s Department Store, in delivery operations, until his retirement in 1990. In retirement, Cal & Pat resided in Plymouth, MN. Cal enjoyed traveling, spending time at their winter home in Bonita Springs, FL, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Masonic Lodge (60-years as a Mason) and Zuhrah Shrine (50-year member).
Cal is survived by his wife of 67-years, Patricia, son Michael (Vicki) Headley and daughter Sara Headley, granddaughters Megan (James) Klein and Rebecca Headley, sisters-in-law JoAnne (Duane) Lund and Donna Murphy, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roger (Vivian) Headley, brother-in-law James Murphy and two nieces. Celebration of Life will take place at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 177 Glendale Dr., Long Lake, MN 55356 on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be at a later date.
