Daniel L. Stuckmayer Obituary

Stuckmayer, Daniel Lee, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025 at the age of 75. Dan was born on June 6, 1949 in Watertown, MN, to loving parents, Wayne and Doris. He was the second oldest of 4 children. During Dan’s adolescent years it was reported that there were mischievous activities going on in the area. Someone rolled tires down the hill onto the railroad tracks and almost derailed the train. Shots were heard at the city dump and dead animals were found. A barn that was frequented by young hunters mysteriously burned down. In recent years Dan used his E-bike to patrol Maple Plain to ensure that these activities were no longer occurring.

Dan served his country in the United States Navy from February 13, 1968 to December 7, 1971. He volunteered for combat and spent a year in Vietnam on an A Boat as a gunner. While serving on the USS Bainbridge, (a nuclear-powered guided missile cruiser, the only ship of her class) he acquired the achievement of a “Golden Shellback.” A Golden Shellback is a sailor who has crossed the equator at the International dateline.

Dan married Joyce in 1975, they had 2 children, Maggie and Pat. Dan was involved in his children’s sports coaching T-ball, BMX and many trips to Voyageur’s National Park with “the gang.” Dan thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Through his marriage he found employment with his father-in-law and brothers-in-law. He worked as a carpenter in residential construction for more than 40 years. Dan and his wife built four homes for themselves and one for their daughter. When not attending grandchildren activities, he spent time hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his brother, Dick, at the hunting land “man cave” near Osakis. In recent years while Dan spent time at the hunting land, no actual hunting was done – just enjoying the company. Recently Dan had taken up a new hobby of woodworking in making beautiful bowls and ornaments on the lathe and wooden trinket boxes.
