Darwin Swanson Obituary

Swanson, Darwin R. (aka, Swanie, Dorv, Dar) age 89 of Long Lake. Passed away at his home peacefully Feb. 3. He was born Dec. 7th, 1928 in Amenia, ND. He is preceded in death by parents, Adolph and Annie; twin brother, Donald; sister, Hilma and grandson, Wesley. He is survived by brother, Sigfrid; wife, Harriet of 64 years; daughters, Barb (Jim) Gould, Bonnie (Scott) Peterson, Brenda (Kevin) Kisrow, Cheryl (Tom) Vaaler and Dana (Gary) Jensen; son, Dan; 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Darwin attended ND State University and Wahpeton State School of Science, then served in the US Air Force from 1950-52. He was employed 36 years as a Greyhound driver and driving instructor. Swanie was a member of the Wayzata American Legion Post #118, active in the Honor Guard and Color Guard for several years and served as the 2nd Vice Commander in the 1990's. Memorial Service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 177 Glendale Dr. Long Lake, MN on Saturday February 10th at 11 am. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service with lunch served afterwards. Memorials preferred to Calvin Presbyterian Church or Greyhound Retirement Association.
