Grandstrand, David T age 71 of Maple Plain. Passed away peacefully April 4. Born March 15th in Sparta, Wisconsin to parents Philip and Nan Grandstrand. David grew up in Chisago City area through his high school years and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College graduating in 1963 with a B.S. degree. He went to work for General Mills in 1964 and earned his Masters in Business Degree in 1983 from the University of Minnesota. He started in out in Research and Development and then transferred into Quality Control where he held a number of supervisory and middle management positions. Dave also served in the Naval Air Reserve from 1964-1970 and received an honorable discharge from the navy in 1970. He married Karen Sue McCarty in 1982 and they have enjoyed their life together for 30 years. Dave retired in 1997 to pursue his hobbies of golf, fishing (some), making stuff out of wood, especially jewelry boxes for his granddaughters. He served on the Maple Plain Planning Commission as Commissioner and Chairman for over 20 years and was a member of the Maple Plain Design Team. In 2010 he was presented with the Maple Plain Volunteer of the Year award for his long standing service. He is preceded in death by his parents, and son Todd. Survived by loving wife, Karen; daughters, Toni and Teja; stepdaughter, Kim along with grandchildren, Mckenzie, Lindsey, Megan, Emily, Ian and Nate. Funeral Service 11:00 A.M. Tuesday April 10 at Christ Lutheran Church 5084 E. Main St, Maple Plain. Visitation Monday April 9, 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Rettinger Funeral Home, Long Lake. Visitation also 1 hour prior to service at church. Memorials can be directed to the church. Interment Lewis Cemetery.
