James Schinke Obituary

Schinke, James John "Jim" 91, went to the Lord, March 13, 2022, with his sons (Tim & Tom) at his side. Jim was born April 30th, 1930, in Rochester, MN where he grew up. He was a Sergeant in the Army and served nearly three years in the Korean War where he earned several medals including TWO Purple Hearts. He met his wife, Marcella in Rochester, and they began a love story marriage lasting over 67 years. Jim graduated from the U of MN and had a great career including working at General Mills for many years. Jim was a good athlete, an avid fisherman & hunter. Jim's passion for fishing was passed down and lives on to this day. No matter how far, Jim & Marci rarely missed an event or game that involved their boys or grandkids. Jim had a special bond with his grandchildren, James & Tara and loved them dearly. Jim and Marci spent memorable summers with the Barrus & Foss families every year and they travelled the world together. Jim was an incredibly kind, patient and generous man. He was known for his fishing success, his good luck, and his wisdom. Jim loved being with people and they loved being with him. We are so grateful for his personal care giver, Corrina, who gave him great joy and love. He developed a faith in Jesus and we pray that he is with Him and his beloved Marci now. He was well loved and respected and he will forever be missed by his surviving sons: Tim (Ann) of Medina MN, Tom (Pamela) of Yuma, AZ; grandchildren: James (Maddie) Schinke, Tara (Adam) Dahlstrom; step grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren. Memorial service at 2:00pm, Friday, March 25th, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at Wayzata Free Church.
