John McCormick Obituary

John McCormick age 88 of Wayzata, formerly of Mound. Born June 5, 1932 in Hutchinson, MN died June 10, 2020. John was born and raised in Hutchinson and learned the value of hard work on his family farm at a young age. His 10 brothers and sisters were always especially important to him. He was always willing to helpthem, both as children and as adults. He was married to his loving wife Helen McNamara McCormick for 63 years and they had 5 children who he was devoted to; Colleen Malone (Mike), Maureen, Michael, Daniel (Shari) and Sheila. His grandchildren include Dan, Katie and Tom Malone, Anna and Joe Greer, Johnny, Matthew and Jack McCormick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Joseph, his siblings; Mary Catherine Leith, Elaine Wray, Allie Otto, Edward and Dick McCormick. He is survived by Beth Schmidt, Ann Gamber, Jerry, Emmett and Greg McCormick. For more than 50 years, John sold commercial plumbing in the five state area as owner of the McCormick Sales Company. John loved mowing his lawn on his John Deere Tractor, boating on Lake Minnetonka, and spending time with his family. He was known for the Irish gift of gab, and in his later years, he could be found visiting with people in the lobby of Folkstone or walking the streets of Wayzata. He would spend most afternoons at McCormick’s Irish Pub, sipping coffee and talking to the many patrons. His nephew Tim McCormick, wife Patty and the entire staff at McCormick’s were very good to him and everyone called him Uncle John. It became his home away from home. John will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 19 th at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mound, MN.
