John M. Coleman

Dr. John Melton Coleman, age 90 of Orono, passed away peacefully at his home on October 8th. He is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 50 years, his daughters, Robin and Laura, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Southern California, John attended Mississippi State University on a track scholarship as an Olympic hopeful in the high jump. After serving in the US Army as a Parachutist, John went on to earn his Doctoral degree and enjoyed a distinguished career as a professor of Geography at California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday October 13th, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at Rettinger Funeral Home, Long Lake.
