Andrews, Linda Lea Ahlschlager, 62, Rockford, passed April 3, at Haven Homes, Maple Plain after a 7 month battle with cancer. A celebration of her life will be held at Rettinger Funeral Home, Long Lake.Visitation Sun April 7, 4-7pm. Service 1pm Monday, April 8'th, visitation one hour prior. Interment at a later day at Elmwood Cemetery, Rockford MN. Linda was born January 10, 1957 in Watertown, MN to Elmer John and Dora “Dorothy” Elizabeth (Volkenant) Ahlschlager. She was the youngest of six children. She grew up around the Lyndale, Mound and the Long Lake area. She graduated from Orono High School in 1975. She completed tailoring school at the Minneapolis Area Vo-Tech. She married the love of her life Dennis Robert Andrews, October 29, 1977, at Calvin Presbyterian Church, Long Lake, MN. She made her gown and the bridesmaids dresses for the wedding. They first lived in Long Lake and then purchased a mobile home in Rockford which has been their home since 1983. Elizabeth Kathleen (Lizz) joined the family Dec 24, 1979 followed by John Elmer, October 23, 1982.
When the children where young, Dennis and Linda worked opposite shifts to spend time with their children. During this time, Linda was a personal care attendant. Once the kids started school full time. Linda started working at Triarco Arts and Crafts and finished her working career at Select Comfort. Linda’s loving spirit came out in her service to her community. She was a founding member of the Rockford Jaycees, served on the River Days committee for several years, served the United Presbyterian Church of Rockford (UPC) as Elder and Youth Group leader. She was a Girl Scout leader. Linda had many talents. Her sewing creations of Renaissance costumes will keep her memory alive for years to come. She loved to cook and bake for her family. She created many stained-glass pieces including two stained-glass windows at UPC. Linda is survived by her husband of 41 years, Dennis, daughter Lizz, and son, John. Her siblings, Darlene (Mike) Camacho, James (Joyce), Dennis (Patsy), Betty Hart, and Nancy (Tom) Carman. Sister-in-law, Ruth (Jerry) Potter, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband’s parents and step-parents, sister-in-law, Faye Andrews, brothers-in-law, James Andrews, Dennis Sauer, Phillip Hart, and niece Michelle Camacho.
