Marilyn Johnston Obituary

Johnston, Marilyn Lucetta (Maynard) Adams, passed away on April 5, 2021, just two hours shy of her 88th birthday. Survived by her children, Kimberly Sue Adams- Plehal (Michael Plehal), Laura G. Adams (Alan Szczepanski) and Kelly Kay Kelly (Brian Kelly); three grandchildren, Lauren Alexandra Adams-Plehal, Marilyn Grace Kelly and Maureen Evelyn Kelly; first husband, David Ray Adams; sister, Karen Lucile Knutson; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by grandson, Michael Tyler Adams-Plehal, sister, Jeanette Carol Johnson and second husband, Robert Charles Johnston. Marilyn was born on April 6, 1933 in Minneapolis to Harry Carl and Mildred Lucetta “Billie” (Badger) Maynard, and grew up around Lake Minnetonka in Excelsior, Long Lake, Orono and Wayzata. She and David were high school sweethearts who married in 1955 and divorced in 1991. In 2000, Marilyn married Robert, who passed away in 2008. Marilyn was the kindest, sweetest person, who will be dearly missed by all. Rettinger Funeral Home, Long Lake, Monday, April 12th : 11:00 visitation, 11:30 service. Noon burial, Union Cemetery.
