Marion Paskvan (Schnaith)
Paskvan, Marion (Schnaith) died peacefully in her sleep at the V. A. Hospital in Minneapolis on January 23, 2011 at the age of 87 years. Marion was born to Charles and Emma Schnaith on the east side of St. Paul on May 12, 1923. Upon graduating from Harding High School, Marion was accepted into the Bethesda Nursing School Program and graduated an Ensign. Her first active duty assignment was at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Norfolk Virginia where she met her husband, Victor. They were married in Minnesota on July 25, 1945.
She was honorably discharged as a nurse in the Navy on November 7, 1945. Marion continued her career in nursing and eventually returned to the University of Minnesota where she received her degree in public health nursing. Upon graduation she accepted a position in the Roseville Public Schools where she served as a school nurse for many years. Following her school nurse position, Marion held various director of nursing positions across the state of Minnesota, including Director of Nursing at Cass Lake Hospital in Cass Lake and Ah Gwah Ching State Hospital in Walker, Minnesota. Prior to her retirement in 1995, Marion developed and managed hospice programs for doctors in northern Minnesota.
She is survived by two sons, Charles (Judy) of Alva, Florida; Craig (Mary) of Akeley, Minnesota; four grandchildren Rebecca Marsey (Jeff) and Laura Paskvan of Tallahassee, Florida; Chris Paskvan of Bemidji, Minnesota; and Bryan Paskvan (Laura) of McIntosh, Minnesota. She also has three great grandchildren, Alexandra Marsey, Gabriel Beau Paskvan, and Caleb Paskvan. She was preceded in death by her husband Victor and her brother Edward.
Interment will be at Ft. Snelling Cemetery with full military honors where she will be laid to rest next to her husband of 53 years.
