Marjorie S. Braden of Wayzata, Minnesota, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, March 25, 2011 of natural causes 9 days shy of her 95th birthday. Marjorie was born April 3, 1916 at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She loved being a homemaker, was a devoted wife and mother. She was well known for her home baked breads, cakes and authentic Swedish dishes. Marjorie was an expert seamstress who made most of her own clothes and would proudly open her closet to reveal over 100 pair of polyester pants, neatly organized in every color of the rainbow! She loved to water ski, and did so until the age of 73. Her passion was golf and on June 27, 1973 got a hole-in one! She lived in the same home on property she lovingly called "Merry Mills" for 61 years. Marjorie attended Wayzata Community Church for decades. She moved to Bickford House in Rockford, Illinois for the final months of her life to be close to her beloved son, Philip. Predeceased by her father Julian, and mother, Clarebelle (Ohlson) Salvesen, devoted husband of 52 years, Philip E. Braden, son Julian and sister in law Shirley Hedican. Survived by her son Philip E. Braden, Jr., (Jamie), Julian's wife, Sondra Braden, of Wayzata, grandchildren, Christian (Jill), Marisa (Cory) , Carolyn (Tom), Scott (Michelle), Troy, Mark (Laurie), Candice (Kirk) and Brian (Nicole), 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her cousin Peggy McLellan, her brother in law David Hedican and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the people of Meridian Manor of Wayzata for their care and assistance to Marjorie for almost two years. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., April 17, 2011, Rettinger Funeral Home, Long Lake Minnesota. Burial at Summit Park, Wayzata, Minnesota.
