Doherty, Patrick H. Age 99, died June 23, 2018, in Plymouth MN. He was born April 2, 1919, in Cedar Lake Township, Scott County MN. Preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary E.(Ryan) Doherty; parents John & Elizabeth Doherty; siblings Robert, John, Elmer & James Doherty & Mary Elizabeth (Doherty) Arnold. Survived by his children Patrick J. (Lou) Doherty , Orono & Kathleen Doherty (John)Kane, Plymouth; granddaughters Ann (James) Timmerman, Omaha NE, Ellen Doherty, St. Louis Park, Elizabeth (Jason) Nagy, Maple Grove, & Bridget (Peter) Daniels, Mpls; great –grandchildren, Patrick, Maggie & Kate Timmerman, Kaylin, Evelyn & Arlen Nagy and Ryan Daniels; brother Tom Doherty, Fairmont and sister in law, Ruth Doherty, New Prague.Graduated with honors from New Prague High School in 1936. Earned a Teaching Certificate from Mankato State College in 1937. Taught in rural Scott County schools until volunteering for World War II service with the U S Army in 1942. Earned a commission and qualified for Flight Training in 1943. Flew combat missions in northern Europe in 1944 & 45 with U S Army Air Corps. Returned in 1946 to complete his undergraduate degree at the University of Minnesota in 1949 and his LLD from William Mitchell School of Law ( then Minnesota Law) in 1952. Practiced law in St. Paul’s Midway area for the next 50+ years. Although Pat devoted most of his non-professional time to family and acted as the lawyer to much of his extended family, he valued civic and church involvement. Beginning with the North Snelling Ave. Commercial Club & its successor – the Midway Lions Club, and including the men’s clubs at Holy Spirit & St. Joseph Churches, K of C Council 4148, & 4th Degree K of C Ravoux Council, he served in both local and national offices. Pat’s family is grateful to Presbyterian Homes (Summerwood) for 10 years of loving care. Mass of Christian Burial, 6:30 PM, Friday June 29 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church 4500 220th St. E. Prior Lake, MN 55372. Visitation with light refreshments from 4:00-6:00 PM with tribute at 6:15 PM. Interment church cemetery.
