Rev. Douglas Richard Potter (89 years) entered his eternal reward on October 27th at the age of 89. He was born in Walton, NY, to Alton & Blanche (Armstrong) Potter. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife of 61 years, Lois (Bixby). Doug is survived by his daughters, Beth Ann Potter of New York City, Lynne (Dan) Soderlund of Kilkenny, MN, and Karen (Mark) Rova of St. Michael. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Kaisa, Brynn, & Spencer Rova; Jessica, Andrew & Amber, Amanda, Rebecca, & Peter Soderlund, & Bernadette & Jason Fruit; as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Delilah Fruit and Ezra Soderlund; and his faithful feline companion, Sam.
Doug was a graduate of Muskingham College in Ohio. For his Master of Divinity, he attended Pittsburgh-Xenia Theological Seminary, where he met Lois. Together, they served Presbyterian congregations in Ohio, Maryland, Nebraska, and lastly at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Long Lake, MN, where he served for 25 years. Although formally retired as a pastor, he wasn’t content being idle. Doug continued to serve as a church organist, pianist, chaplain, mentor, election judge, and volunteer with Lake Minnetonka Shores in numerous capacities. Memorials preferred to Calvin Presbyterian Church.
