Tommy E. Martin, Sr

Martin, Tommy E. Sr. age 71 of Plymouth, formerly of Maple Plain. Passed away June 16. He died peacefully in his sleep at home, which was his wish. He is survived by son, Tommy Martin, Jr. and wife Jackie. Daughter-in-law, Sherry Martin. Grandsons, Travis and Troy and 4 great-grandsons. Sisters, Sandee Martin, CA and Dianne Klevann (Paul), Maple Plain, MN. Brother, Mike Martin, Rush City. Several nieces and nephews.

Tommy was preceded in death by his wife Merrilee and son, Jimmy, and parents, Earl and June Martin. Tom entered the US Army in 1960 and served his country as a paratrooper. He was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. He was honorably discharged in 1963 and moved his new family back to Minnesota. He was employed by various companies before starting his own business, Production Automation. He ran it successfully for a number of years before early retirement and selling the business to his son Tommy in 1988.

Tom enjoyed making stained glass windows and creating copper tubing water sprays. He also had a passion for finishing any project he started, before the end of the same day! He built 3 homes on his own and was driven to complete each one with perfection and detail. Tom had a small circle of people he called friends, but was very loyal to them. About 2 months before his death, Tom reaffirmed his faith and love for Jesus. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved and cared for him. Memorial Service 12:30 pm July 10. Visitation 1 hour prior to service at Rettinger Funeral Home, Long Lake. Interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
